[HCF looks back! A review originally written in February, but reposted here and now, just in case you missed it!]

One of the best-looking and most compelling Wii games to date, Rainbow Studios' "Deadly Creatures" is a survival tale intertwining the lives and deaths of desert-dwelling vermin -- arthropod and human alike.

Techno music Pong
Entrancing rhythmic gameplay
Like a siren song.

Movements too subtle!
Flickers, blips and pulsing lights
Blur and strain my eyes.

Yet, I cannot stop
Get some eye drops. Start over.
So worth the six bucks. |

Welcome to another edition of How to Be Me, HCF's casual, vaguely instructional interviews with professionals in the video games industry. This week I spoke with Will Armstrong, Lead QA at Telltale Games, developers of Sam & Max, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, and the upcoming Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures.
Hi, Will! Could you tell us who you are and what you do?
Will Armstrong: Hello! Well, I'm Will Armstrong and I'm the Lead of Quality Assurance for Telltale Games.
When you were a little boy is that what you wanted to be when you grew up?
Will Armstrong: Not in the slightest! Honestly, I had no idea that some day I would work into video games. It's something I accidentally stumbled upon.

Last night, Capcom and GameStop celebrated the midnight release of Resident Evil 5 with a Resi-themed party tent in the middle of San Francisco's Union Square. Fans were invited to mix and mingle with Resi 5's producers, developers and motion capture/voiceover actors; and generally have a good time getting hopped up on free energy drinks, entering screaming contests and killing some zombies. Behind the cut, a selection of pics from the event for your viewing pleasure! (Very image heavy!)

How to Be Me is our series of casual, vaguely instructional interviews with video games industry professionals.

Leigh, could you tell us a little about yourself?
Leigh Alexander: My name is Leigh Alexander, and I'm a video game journalist. (Crowd: Hi, Leigh)

Last weekend WonderCon rolled into San Francisco, allowing me to attend my very first major convention outside the Star Trek variety. Somehow I expected a great deal more cosplay and wackiness and far fewer obese men wearing corsets. Oh, I have so much to learn!
At any rate, here, for your viewing pleasure, are several scenes from WonderCon 09. Unfortunately, no, I didn't make the Watchmen panel. They put it up against Capcom Street Fighter IV where they were giving away free Ryu headbands. I'm sure you would have made the same decision.

FYI: This is image heavy. [ read more ] |

The central protagonist in traditional RPGs generally doesn't have any dialog.
In games like Chrono Trigger, that's probably a good thing.
