You'd think it would be easy for Bowser to get a girlfriend. He's the king of his entire species, for crying out loud.

Hypercombofinish Comic #33 by Chris Maguire

The summer doldrums are over and the pre-Christmas videogame release bonanza has begun!

I'm currently playing through Serious Sam 2, Quake 4, and Battalion Wars. So far, Quake 4 is far exceeding my expectations, especially after the lackluster reviews it's been getting. It's *actually* genuinely exciting -- not to mention horror-flick creepy.

The DS is where things are really heating up, however -- in the coming month we're getting Mario Kart (ONLINE!), Viewtiful Joe, Animal Crossing (ONLINE!), a new Mario RPG, Metroid Prime Pinball, Burnout, and Tony Hawk (ONLINE!), to mention but a few.

Say what you will about Jack Thompson, but he's certainly made it an excellent time to be a web cartoonist.

This week's strip is in response to Jack's latest publicity stunt -- he's offered to donate $10,000 to charity if a game developer creates and sells a game about brutally killing, well, game developers.

The concept is so convoluted that any point he may be trying to make can only be fathomed after reviewing his previous remarks towards videogames, and even then it's hazy.

We're back off schedule!

If you've got a strong enough machine to handle it, I'd recommend downloading the Serious Sam 2 demo -- it successfully combines old-school gameplay with a slick next generation presentation. I can't really argue with a game that features a parrot strapped to a bomb as its ultimate weapon.

So, the comic. This is old news, for sure, but the repercussions are only recently kicking in.
